Between the river, the sea, and the mountain, Viana do Castelo is a city shaped by the relationship between territory, memory, and movement. Located on the northern coast of Portugal, between the Atlantic and the Lima Valley, the city brings together a strong cultural identity and a landscape where different times and ways of living intersect.
It is in this borderland and place of passage that DOC[iN] finds its home. The proximity to the sea, the history of migration, transatlantic connections, and the diversity of communities that have crossed—and continue to cross—the region engage in a dialogue with the festival's central themes: memory, identity, territory, mobility, and transformation.
